Jim and I volunteer at the local Nursing home with our “Pet Therapy” program. When the pups are eight weeks old, checked by the Vet and received their first set of shots, we take them to the local nursing home where we allow the Residents to hold and play with them. They, as well as the puppies love this time. The residents are always excited to see us coming and then when we take the pups out of the basket and they see those pups their eyes light up and you see smiles and laughter all around. It is such a heart warming experience and they are always sad to see us go, we both on many occasions leave the facility with tear filled eyes, but yet it fills our own hearts with such joy to see the results our visit has given.
Our ““Pet Therapy” has in the past shown great benefits medically to the Residents therapy process as well as providing socialization for the puppies. Its always a wonderful experience on this day. Though we volunteer our time and service for this, we are compensated highly by witnessing the heart filled joyous responses that could not be replaced by all the money in the world.
